About GV Festival

Somerset is no stranger to legendary and memorable festivals, Glastonbury, ArcTanGent, and Valley Fest to name a few. The love for grassroot live music venues and new music runs deep here with nearby Bristol having venues like Thekla, Rough Trade, Strange Brew, The Louisiana, and The Exchange. This part of the South West is a constant hub of fresh, exciting talent.

Weston-super-Mare also boasts a rich musical legacy, with iconic acts like David Bowie, Black Sabbath, and The Beatles once gracing its stages. Groove Village Festival builds on this legacy by bringing the best emerging bands from across the UK to local, independent live music venues, all just a short stroll from the sea.

Groove Village is a unique chance to see the best up and coming bands in tiny venues. The venues are all within minutes of one another, creating for one special time in September a vibrant community for music lovers.

This year the festival is brought to you in partnership with the Arts Council.

The Vision and Community

Groove Village Festival is the brainchild of Andy, a lifelong champion of grassroots music. He has decades of experience attending intimate gigs, from Madonna’s first UK show in Manchester to GetDown Services playing in his own front room. Andy thrives on the raw energy of small venues and the community that it builds.

You’ll often find him at gigs around the country, catching the next big sound before it breaks and enjoying the community surrounding grassroot live music venues.
